Dancing Competition Helps Victims

Athens, GA- Eleven teams of two will be competing in this weekend’s Dancing With the Athens Stars for audience and judge approval.  The event is sponsored by Project Safe.  Ninety cent of every dollar donated to Project Safe will go to families and individuals who are victims of domestic violence.

Reporter Steven Farmer went to the Classic Center to find out exactly what Project Safe hopes to do with this event.  He found out quite some interesting characters from all over Athens will be competing.  In fact, UGA’s Chief of Police Jimmy Williamson is even competing this weekend.

The competition will start at 7 PM this saturday, and tickets are on sale at the Classic Center. Last year’s dance off raised over one hundred thousand dollars in donations.
