CLERMONT, Ga.— Five men were arrested following a shooting in Hall County.

Just after 7:00 PM on Friday night, officials responded to a report of a shooting with one injury at Green Circle and Bradley Lane.

The investigation revealed a dispute between two groups of the arrested men on 5300 Green Circle. One group arrived at a home to confront the other, reportedly exiting their vehicle with baseball bats. One subject stayed in the car brandishing a firearm.

The resident of the home exited with a shotgun and ordered the approaching group to stop. They refused and the resident fired the shotgun, wounding one person in the car in the upper arm.

The approaching group fled to a residence on nearby Bradley Lane. When approached by a Sheriff’s Deputy, three of the subjects ran into the woods. A K9 unit tracked them down without further incident.

The three men who were arrested and charged with aggravated assault were John Baxter, Austin Jump, and William Connolly.  The other two arrests were Timothy Smith for party to the crime of aggravated assault, and Wesley Smith for obstruction of officer.

The injured man, 20 year-old Joshua Smith, was transported to the Northeast Georgia Medical Center with non-life threatening wounds. He and an 18 year old female were not charged. The resident who fired the shotgun has not been charged as well.

The case is still under investigation.
