Fleas Bouncing Off the Floors and Walls!

That’s what one pest control manager said his tech control guys told him when they walked in a home.

The heavy rain is bringing out all the bugs.

“All of our clients are calling us like crazy,” Michael Houseman, manager of Houseman Pest Control said.

The increase of bugs from summer showers is boosting one business and costing others money.

An Athens Realty spokesperson, Barbara Parker, said they have received almost 25 percent more phone calls than usual from tenants needing more frequent sprays.

“We have to pay every time a pest guy goes out to our properties…so it has cost more,” she said.

Local pest control experts say that the more it rains, the more likely it is that tenants will experience more insect invasions than usual this time of year. The increase in calls is generating more revenue for their businesses.

Houseman said, “Summers are always bad, but this year the calls we’ve gotten have doubled. We’re even getting a lot of callbacks.”

Athens Exterminating Inc supervisor, Chip Dixon, says his business received 15 to 20 percent more phone calls this summer than last year.

According to several pest experts, american roaches, ants, fleas and mosquitoes are the most intrusive invaders they have come across.

Chris Wallace, spokesman for Breda Pest Management, said bugs seek shelter from rain like we do so you’re going to see more bugs inside when you have more rain.
