Former MLB All-Star Out of Field But Still in Dugout

Athens, GA — Athens Christian School’s baseball coach Jake Westbrook is in his first year coaching. However, Westbrook isn’t inexperienced with baseball — he has a World Series ring to prove it. Jake Westbrook played in the Major Leagues from 2000-2013, was an All-Star in 2004, and won the World Series with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2011. He says it’s different than being around pro athletes, but it’s just the same game he’s always been used to. Westbrook also says he enjoys coaching because he is able to share what he knows and watch the players get better.
