Jury Selection Begins for Drunk Driving Case

ATHENS, GA- The jury selection process has begun in the case of William Heaton who is accused of hitting Emily Bowman while driving under the influence back in 2013. 20 year old Bowman was left partially paralyzed in the accident, and is still recovering almost two years after the accident. Heaton is at the Superior Court House in Athens for the process that could take most of the day.

22 year old Heaton is facing 13 different charges, 6 of which are serious injury by vehicle. He has also been charged with driving under the influence, leaving the scene, failure to report an accident, reckless driving, and possession of an open container in a motor vehicle.

Heaton was released on a $50,000 bond and has been wearing a GPS monitor since the hearing. The trial is expected to start on Wednesday, December 3rd with Superior Court Judge Patrick Haggard hearing the case.
