  • Boys & Girls Club – The Boys & Girls Club of Jackson County is constructing a new building for its Commerce Unit. The building will be a replica of the Jim Moran Memorial Club in Jefferson, Georgia. Construction is expected to be done in December with the grand opening coming in January.

  • More affordable wifi in Oconee County – Brian Thompson, a utilities director in Monroe, is planning on providing citizens in rural Oconee County neighborhoods with faster, more reliable internet service. He already provided two other neighborhoods in the county with this service and wants to help others. Thompson wants to use the county’s water towers for his plan, but must work with Oconee County Commissioners to make this happen.
  • Difficulties with Georgia-Florida game – Some season ticket holders can’t make the long trek to Jacksonville. Randall Hicks has been a season ticket holder for 32 years and can’t go to the game. This game is at a neutral-site which makes it very hard for fans to book hotels at an affordable price. Hicks said this is one of the main reasons he will never be able to attend this game.
