ATHENS, Ga. — Rakesh Gosain, or “Rocky”, owns a gas station on Baxter Street, Jimbo’s. But he has a secret talent: acting.
Rocky loved movies as a kid. If he had five dollars, he’d quickly spend it to go see whatever was in theaters. But he never got the opportunity to really pursue his dream of acting.
Now, as an established business owner and his daughter off at college, Rocky finally has his chance to act.
In just the past two years, Rocky has acted in movies such as “American Made” with Tom Cruise, “The Accountant” with Ben Affleck, and “Keeping Up with the Joneses” with Zach Galifinakis.
Rocky mostly plays minor, non-speaking roles such as an office employee or cashier. But he’s looking to expand his acting experience and take on roles with more dialogue.
He auditioned for a part in a Bollywood film that’s shooting in Atlanta. The part has a couple of lines, and Rocky rehearses at home whenever he can.
The gas station keeps Rocky busy, dealing with employees and an endless stream of customers. And even though the business keeps him from taking acting classes, Rocky says the best lessons are learned while on set.
See if you can spot Rocky in the upcoming film “The Accountant”, coming to theaters October 17th.
