UGA Transfer Student Creates Connections With ‘No Friends Meetup’

Aiden Gallagher is brand new to UGA. That’s why he took meeting people into his own hands.

Gallagher posted fliers throughout his apartment complex and UGA’s campus to promote his event, The “I Have No Friends” Meetup in Athens.

Gallagher, a junior transfer student, decided to host the event because he did not have a way to meet people. The event was shared on “OverHeard at UGA,” a Facebook group with over 9,000 members, and it quickly gained momentum.

The “No Friends Meetup” had between 70 and 100 people on Friday night, and it included chips and a piñata.

Party goer Mary Cowart said the gathering was a blend of people from all of UGA, and their differences brought them together.

Gallagher has promised to host more meet-ups soon, and created a Facebook group to spread the word.
