Oconee County Cancels Valentine’s Day

Sorry folks, but Valentine’s Day is out of the question in Oconee “…from a line North of I-16 to the Georgia/Tennessee border.” Well, that’s according to the Oconee County Georgia Sheriff’s Office Facebook page. This “No Valentines Day” zone, of course, isn’t real, but the message that its trying to send is.

According to Chief Deputy Lee Weems, the Facebook post was made to help remind people that there are “better things to be doing.” Instead of running outside in the cold to buy “lottery scratchers and Hershey bars,” Weems says that the police department hopes that most people stay indoors and off the roads.

“We like to have a little fun with our Facebook posts,” and it hasn’t gone unnoticed.
