One local church is still on the long road to recovery after a devastating fire.

But now we know what the re-built one is going to look like.

The design for the new Oconee StreetUnited Methodist Church is shown above.

The church just approved the design this week.

The fire happened last April, but it hasn’t kept them from staying positive.

The church’s public relations director, Joe Dennis, told us that they see it as a new opportunity for community outreach.

“We’re going to have a beautiful sanctuary. We’re going to have a lot of space that will continue to allow us to do our mission projects of the community…It’s going to be a real exciting time,” said Dennis.

He also told us that they hope to start construction early in 2014 and re-open by 2015.
