In the fourth and final part of this series, Alex Marchante discusses Athens mayor-elect Kelly Girtz’s plan on improving affordable housing in the city.

Why It’s Newsworthy: Homeowners with mortgages in Athens tend to place under 30 percent of their income towards monthly housing costs. However, renters in Athens, whom occupy 53 percent of Athens’ housing units, tend to pay much more, leaving an affordable housing shortage for much of the city.
