Reporting I students each semester learn more about their beats — a special topic area of focus — by conducting research and interviews with community and student leaders, entrepreneurs, musicians, professors, performers and others. The nearly 80 students in the course conducted an interview on their beat in September.

This fall 2025 Q&A series focuses on six people whose roles involve interacting with the public, whether in city-county government and the board of education, with a student-run political organization or serving customers.

They hold positions that impact others, from engaging in political discourse and mobilizing student engagement to representing a brand and contributing to the economy.

All reporting was completed by students in Reporting I in the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia.
