Talk to Candidates in Winterville Tonight

By Shaunteri Skinner

Come ask candidates for mayor and city council questions tonight at the Winterville Civitan’s Club’s candidate forum. Three candidates are in the running to replace Mayor Emily Eisenman: Ken Hodges, George Chandler, and Dodd Ferrelle.

The candidates’ backgrounds range from farmer to attorney, but they all have experience in a city or school council.

Ken Hodges, a member of the Winterville City Council says he wants to take on this leadership role. He said, “I love this city, and I have a passion for it. The only time that I left Winterville was to go to Vietnam during the sixty-seven years that I have been here. I believe that I am the person who can lead the city forward.”

We attempted to contact Ferrelle and Chandler but have not received a response.

Candidates for city council include Markus Boenig, Mary Quinn, Scott Howard, San Alvarez, and Lee Ann Pingel.

The forum will begin tonight at 7:00p.m. with city council candidates speaking until 8:00 p.m. Mayoral candidates will speak from 8:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.

The election for these seats will take place on Nov. 3 at the Winterville Depot. Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m-7:00 p.m.

Forum location: Winterville Baptist Church Chapel, 305 N Church St, Winterville, GA 30683
