The Lead: On the Business of Podcasting

The Lead is a podcast hosted and produced by Charlotte Norsworthy in the Cox Institute for Journalism Innovation, Management & Leadership at the University of Georgia. We talk about how to get ahead in the media industry by interviewing the people who did.

This episode of The Lead is the first of its kind: it’s a compilation episode. The Cox Institute hosted its Entrepreneurial Journalism Symposium on the business of podcasting, bringing in tons of media leaders to the Grady College. So, interviewing more than one person for this episode only made sense.

On a personal level, the thought of geeking-out with professional podcasters on how to make podcasts better was very exciting. On a production level, this presented an interesting editing and pacing challenge because more voices means more tweaking and transitions. But, I ended up really enjoying the idea of breaking up the episode with smaller chapters and music.

I am excited to implement this approach again in future episodes. Why have less when you can have more?

Take a listen.
