The Lead: Sabriya Rice on Health and Medical Journalism

The Lead is a podcast hosted and produced by Charlotte Norsworthy in the Cox Institute for Journalism Innovation, Management & Leadership at the University of Georgia. We talk about how to get ahead in the media industry by interviewing the people who did.

I’ve been wanting to interview Sabriya Rice since she started at the Grady College as the Knight Chair for Health and Medical Journalism in August. So essentially, she heads up the medical journalism graduate program here. But before she became a professor, she had a robust reporting career working for CNN and the Dallas Morning News covering the complex health care industry.

In this episode, we discuss the unique challenges that come with covering health and medical issues. I really enjoyed picking her brain, since this is a subject that we don’t often learn how to cover at the undergraduate level. If you ever get the chance to chat with her while she is around Grady, I would definitely take advantage!
