Two Georgia Football Players Arrested, Suspended

By Nicole Castrellon

Two UGA football players were arrested early Wednesday morning on misdemeanor possession of marijuana charges by the UGA Police Department.

Freshmen Chauncey Rivers and Natrez Patrick were booked in Athens-Clarke County Jail and were both released on $1,000 bonds at 6 a.m.

Both players have been suspended for Saturday’s game against Kentucky, according to coach Mark Richt.

In a statement released by the UGA Athletic Department, Richt expressed his disappointment towards the players actions.

“They made a very poor decision and I’m extremely disappointed. They will be disciplined in an appropriate manner and hopefully have learned a valuable life lesson that will benefit them moving forward.” Richt said.
