Athens- The lowest temperatures we’ve seen in a year have led to school closings, delays, and even excused absences in and around the Athens area.

Oglethorpe County schools closed today… still no word of whether or not they will be open tomorrow.

Madison County schools also closed today. ..but as of now they will return for a full day of school tomorrow.

Clarke County opened today, but students and parents were advised to keep kids inside or in warm cars until buses arrived this morning. All students whose parents thought it was just too cold to send their kids to school, will be excused upon request.

Oconee…and Jackson County schools were open today and are planned to stay open tomorrow. If anything is to change, parents, teachers and students will be notified by 5:30 tomorrow morning.

Barrow County opened today. However if you are still without power, those students will be excused from school if that caused a tardy or absence.
