Zika on the Rise while Congress Argues

https://youtu.be/GIm9F7wUNiM

In the Athens, Georgia District there are six confirmed cases of Zika. The cases are traveled related and not locally contracted. However last night an opportunity to fund the fight against Zika was on the table in Congress.

The vote on the 1.1 billion dollar funding bill failed 52 to 46– lacking the 60 votes it needed to pass.

The main disagreement: wording of a provision which could have been used to defund Planned Parenthood. Republicans call that claim a “political fabrication” by the Democrats.

Fact or fiction, millions of lives will hang in the balance until the next Zika funding bill
