Guns in Gainesville Schools Update

A decision to keep a Colt 6920 M4 Carbine rifle inside three Gainesville public schools may be reached as soon as October 4th. In less than a week, parents will know if there will be a high powered weapon in their children’s schools. The Gainesville School board will vote on whether to have a rifle in Gainesville High school, Woodsmill Academy, and Gainesville Middle school. This proposal will cost approximately $6,000–including the guns and the safes. Police say the school resource officer will be the only one to have access to the rifle.
