Athens,Ga – Admitted cop killer Jamie Hood went before a judge today. Hood requested the courtroom be ex parte according to Grady Newsource Reporter Brittey Laryea.
Ex parte means no public or media is allowed in the courtroom at the time of the hearing. Hood, representing himself, requested to be tried by an impartial jury from either Fulton or Dekalb Counties last summer after Judge Haggard granted trial by an outside jury with residents from Elbert County.
The Athens-Clarke County Superior Court Docket lists this hearing for the purpose of scheduling a “Motion Calendar”.
We reached out to the Judge as well as to the District Attorney to get comment on what the next steps will be in the trial of Jamie Hood.
Court documents of the motion filed by Hood say he would request funding for a private investigator in his defense in today’s hearing. Transcripts from the hearing were not public at the time Grady Newsource requested them.
