UPDATE: All-Clear Given, Courthouse Reopened, No Explosive Device Detected

UPDATE: At 4:30pm, the courthouse was re-opened for normal business.

Athens Clarke County Sheriff has given an all clear at the ACC Courthouse. He reports no explosive device was detected.

A bomb threat was made early afternoon today in downtown Athens. The courthouse off 325 E Washington street was evacuated. Some streets are currently still shut down.Screen Shot 2016-03-24 at 4.29.07 PM

Hilda Sorrow, Athens Clarke County Public Information Assistant, reports the bomb threat was made at 1:50 pm.

The Bomb Disposal Unit was sent a bomb diffusing robot into the courthouse.

Athens Clarke County Police Department is conducting an investigation into the matter.
