ATHENS, GA – Georgia elementary schools will see changes to their early education programs starting this year.
Georgia is a winner of a nationwide education grant to help develop early childhood education across the state. Georgia is one of six states to be awarded the Race to the Top Early Childhood Education Challenge Grant.
Children will see changes throughout this year in how they are taught. Teachers will begin these changes later this fall. The grant will develop over the next four years.
The four year plan has four strategies to help Georgia schools: increasing the quality of education across the state, improving the Teachers by offering more resources, increasing communication between networks of schools, and setting standards to track childrens progess in school. Officials say these programs will hopefully help your children perform better in school and improve reading and writing skills.
Schools across the county and state will continue their attempts at improving childhood education through the use of this federal grant for the next four years.
