Athens, GA-UGA has recently accepted more minority students for Fall 2013 admission. However, compared to other SEC schools UGA still lags behind. Reporter Wes Clark investigates to see what is UGA doing to change that.

Blacks, Latinos, and Asians. a few minority groups represented on campus of UGA. Starting this fall more members of these groups will be represented on campus. “As long as we have a steady pool of admitted minority students then we can do that work of trying to get them to understand why the University of Georgia is  good choice for them,” says Dr. Cook who is the Associate Provost and Chief Diversity Officer at UGA. Barrett Linam, who is a GRaduate Assistant and on the LSU Admissions Team, says,”working with the high schools to make sure students get the opportunity to attend any post secondary institution.” Hispanic enrollment and acceptance has been low at UGA, a latino alumni says that he always felt supported. “I never felt like my heritage would ever put me in a unique or awkward position”

The admissions office plans to release the final numbers in early May.
