Officials Bust Multimillion Dollar Drug Trafficking Organization

ATHENS, GA — Two hundred Local, State, and Federal Law Enforcement Officers swarmed Toccoa, Georgia and a large part of Northeast Georgia to bust a multi-million dollar drug trafficking organization earlier today.

According to a GBI news release, these officers are serving 20 search warrants and 27 arrest warrants for Horace Mayfield’s drug trafficking organization, including its members and suppliers, as you can see here:

For the entirety of the investigation, this organization has been attributed to 72 kilograms of cocaine, 15 kilograms of methamphetamine and 50 pounds of marijuana with a total street value of 9.5 million dollars.

The Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO), with the cooperation of the FBI, the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office, and the Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s office, worked for 10 long months to dismantle this drug trafficking network, which reached as far south as Atlanta and as far north as South Carolina.

The GBI news release also mentioned seven Georgia Sheriff’s Offices and over 20 other law enforcement units that aided in the dismantling of Mayfield’s drug trafficking organization.
