Oconee County’s Land Trust Ended Up Being Successful

OCONEE- Oconee river land trust announced that in this past year it has doubled the amount of land it protects. They are now responsible for protected land in 18 counties in Georgia. This amounts to nearly 12,000 acres of preserved land in north-east Georgia. Executive Director of ORLT Steffney Thompson expressed her appreciation for land owners who work with the Oconee County Land Trust. 

“We did double our numbers and its been an incredibly busy, fun year,” Thompson says.

The land trust protects land in the Upper Oconee Watershed to preserve habitats for future generations. They are currently working on an additional five projects.
