Online Petition Started for Reinstatement of UGA Police Officer

ATHENS — Some people on social media have been expressing support for a former police officer at the University of Georgia, after he was dismissed from UGAPD for insubordination concerning Georgia’s 911 medical amnesty law. The UGAPD has seen the petition. A representative says it won’t change the police department’s decision to fire Park.

UGA student Jake Candler created an online campaign on change.org to reinstate Jay Park and remove negative record of his insubordination. As of 5:15 p.m., the online petition has 887 supporters.
