Oconee County Proposes Redistricting Plans

The Oconee County School Board has released a new proposed redistricting plan with the opening of their 8th elementary school.

Dove Creek Elementary School, located in northern Oconee County, is on time to open next August.

The current zoning map is below. Right now, Malcolm Bridge Elementary and Rocky Branch Elementary house the students who live in the northern part of the county.

But, both elementary schools are over capacity.

In this proposed plan below, Dove Creek Elementary will relieve the overcrowding and put all three elementary schools under capacity level.

The Board of Education is holding a community listening session on the proposed redistricting on October 10th.

The school board will vote on adopting the proposed lines at its November regular session.
