UGA Students Push for Women’s Center on Campus

ATHENS — The Women’s Studies department at the University of Georgia, among other groups on campus, are teaming up to bring awareness to the fact that UGA does not have a Women’s Center.

There are six other Southeastern Conference universities that do have women’s centers. There are other outlets for women to get advice and seek professional help about situations that may affect them, but none of them are on campus.

The main focus for pushing for a women’s center on campus is for women, and men, to have a space to talk about issues of sexual assault without having to report them.

The resources that are available, now, requires the people who are sexually assaulted to report these incidents when they may just want to talk about them.
