Is Sanford Stadium Safe?

Fan safety is constantly evaluated by UGA officials.

The Turner Field fatality on Monday raised questions about stadium safety all over the country.

A UGA Associate Athletic Director explains the mandatory requirements at Sanford Stadium.

” If it’s a seating area where like the first row is like a 300 or 600 level it’s a 2′ 2,” which I believe is twenty-six inches minimum height. And then if it’s coming down a stairwell down to a railing then it’s usually forty-two inches.”

Brooks says they work with the UGA police and fire department to improve safety and meet code.

Turner Field declined to comment on the exact railing heights due to an ongoing investigation, but did say that all railings are compliant to building codes.
