Local Law Enforcement officials say easy access to opioid drugs is why Athens is one of several cities in the state where overdose deaths are rising. That’s despite a two-year old Amnesty Law designed to prevent them. The law ensures if someone is dying of an overdose, a friend can get help and not risk getting in trouble.
