Senate Bill 73 to Protect Police Animals

Senate Bill 73 is on its to Governor Nathan Deal’s desk. If the bill were to become law, penalties for hurting police animals specifically dogs and horses would increase significantly. Reporter Wade Barron spoke to UGA Police Chief Jimmy Williamson about how important their bomb dogs are to their unit. UGA Law School Professor Peter Appel also gave his thoughts about how animal safety issues can inspire bipartisan action.
