UGA Chief of Police Addresses Threat to Campus

UGA chief of police Jimmy Williamson made a statement today regarding the threat to UGA campus. In the press conference William said that student safety is his number one priority following the threat made to campus today  “We would not leave our students vulnerable if we had reason to believe this would actually escalate,” Williamson said. 

Chief Williamson says he learned about the threat after a number of students tipped off UGA police and applauds their efforts.

While Chief Williamson did not go into the specifics of the threat he did say the threat targeted the entire UGA student body. He also said the it was a threat of violence and made reference to firearms.

 The UGA police department is looking into all the facts they have collected to name a suspect. Chief Williamson says if he does make an arrest he wants prosecution to follow. If you have any information contact the UGA police department.
